Team India might be headed for the Champions Trophy, but it feels more like a boot camp! BCCI’s new rules say no family, no private rides, and definitely no sneaky room service from personal chefs. One senior player requested his wife’s company—BCCI responded with a polite “LOL, no.” Players must now share rides, practice hard, and eat what’s served like good students on a school trip. Cricket just got serious!
The Champions Trophy 2025 will be the biggest ODI event for men’s cricket in year of 2025. India, runners-up in 2017, aims to redeem itself after a 3-1 Test series loss to Australia. This tournament will also mark the strict implementation of BCCI’s new guidelines on player travel, practice sessions, and family member policies.

According to Cricbuzz report, BCCI has made it clear that the new policies are non-negotiable. A formal SOP was shared with players, outlining the rules on travel, nets, and family restrictions. Players were informed during the third ODI in Ahmedabad that the guidelines must be followed strictly. One senior player reportedly requested permission to have his wife accompany him, but BCCI declined. The board emphasized that exceptions would require players to bear all costs themselves. Since the tour duration is less than a month, players’ families will not be allowed to join.
“There is no going back on this and the players have made aware that the BCCI is very serious about the SOPs, and violation of this rule could be seriously viewed by the BCCI.” -as per report
The new rules extend to personal staff, including managers and agents. Players must travel together and attend all practice sessions without exceptions. State units were also informed that private vehicles would not be allowed for practice travel. These rules aim to maintain discipline and unity. Players have also adhered to domestic cricket commitments, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja among those representing their respective states.
