Indian captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly complained to the BCCI about Sunil Gavaskar. A report by CricBlogger claims that Rohit felt Gavaskar was too negative about his poor form against Australia. He scored only 31 runs in three Test matches and dropped himself for the final game. Gavaskar wrote in his column that Rohit might step down from captaincy if he failed in Melbourne and Sydney.
Rohit allegedly expressed discomfort over the pressure created by external criticism. He believed Gavaskar’s comments were unnecessary. A source mentioned that Rohit conveyed his concerns to the BCCI. Meanwhile, he will miss Mumbai’s must-win Ranji Trophy match against Meghalaya. His focus is now on the upcoming ODI series against England.
Rohit has struggled with the bat this season. He has managed only 164 runs in his last 15 Test innings. His form did not improve in the Ranji Trophy, where he scored just 3 and 28 against J&K. Jaiswal also had modest scores, but he had a better Test season. Iyer, in contrast, has been Mumbai’s best performer, with 480 runs in seven innings. He has also excelled in white-ball cricket.
